Keyword Trends

Keyword Trends shows how search interest changes over time. For up to five keywords at once, it reports a relative interest index, year-over-year direction, recent momentum and seasonal months.

What one unit covers

Each exploration you confirm uses one trend_explorations unit, whether it has one keyword or five. Previewing, cancelling a preview, reopening a saved run or picking a related-query follow-up costs nothing until you confirm. A confirmed follow-up counts as a new exploration.

The index is an estimate

Every series and readout is labeled Estimate. The 0–100 interest index is relative to the market and time window you chose. It isn't monthly search volume, traffic or a forecast.

• Year-over-year needs at least 56 valid data points.
• Momentum needs 12 data points and shows up, down or flat.
• Seasonality needs 24 separate months. If there isn't enough history, RankMeFast tells you instead of making up a pattern.

A flat, sparse or empty response that succeeded is still a real result, not an error.

Cache and refunds

A cached result still uses one unit, and so does a successful exploration that returns no series.

If the source fails before any series is saved, the reserved unit is returned once and the run is marked refunded. Once a usable series is saved, the unit stays spent even if another readout isn't available.

When to explore

Keyword Trends runs on demand; it doesn't monitor keywords continuously. Run it again when you want a newer view. If new explorations are paused, your saved runs stay readable.
